The Tray Part —The" tray" part is the simplest part, so let’s start here! The 7inch trays are generally clear (we can do something like black if you’re doing an all black piece), and they are glued onto a custom made folder. The folder part is where we get customized. By the way, if you wanted to use the tray sideways, instead of vertically, we call this a WIDESCREEN TRAYPAK. Guess we didn’t escape customization after all.

Let's look closely at the folder portion. Ah, here's the customization part. You can vary these things:

• Pockets (oh wow, get ready - we must have some 20+ variations of pockets already made, and special die cut pockets are not a big deal. Tube pockets, slot pockets, diagonal literature pockets, Wide Moon Pockets, Deep Thumbhole, Shallow Thumbhole, BusinessCard Slots....on and on)
• Booklets ( can we do booklets...any size. Stapled, folded, weird folding, gluing of, any shape)
• Paper Stock (We have fantastic ECO OPTIONS for paper stocks- SEE ECO TRAYPAKS with recycled stock (ahem, we mean really recycled) coated or uncoated, and FIBERBOARD traypaks in a brown texture, and thick or thin.
• Printing — cmyk, pantone colors, metallics, and soy inks. Want it black- we have a good 20+ variations on the best black too. Let us guide you.
• Bling Factor or Special Effects Printing (Spot UV GLoss, Embossing and Debossing, foils - YOU HAVE TO SEE FREEZEPOP), Glossy, Matte, Laminations and don't forget the die cuts windows and shapes. Oh, what fun we have)

Ok, so now you get it -- these are custom and should pretty much meet your every need and wish. (Hmmmn, haven't done one in chocolate yet, any takers?)

Nope, not at all. Although 90% of the movies we have done have been in these packages, we do have quite a number of tall traypaks that have cds and not dvds. For example promotional CDs, software cds, and educational , motivational, and self help cds. There’s no denying that these packages have a great retail presence due to the height and attention-getting custom nature.

Height-wise they are slightly different from cases, but bear in mind we have some 40+ variations of these tall traypaks, so if you have a specific need, please let us know and we’ll accommodate.

But if you do want a dvd, we can do dvd5’s, 9’s, or 10’s, recordables (nicely offset printed too!), and even Flexible DVDs.

Amaray cases are ok for some things, they work at Blockbuster. But we wouldn’t pit a plastic case against a Tall Traypak in a buying-sensitive arena. The plastic cases are generally available in black or clear, and we can even do recycled material in the black plastic cases, but it’s still just a plastic case with a thin paper insert. Our recommendation for cases is generally if you feel compelled to use an amaray type case, at least consider a 4C slipcase with embossing or a die cut window to dress it up. Unless it’s selling at the Dollar Store or just being rented, and sales aren’t a factor, make it stand out.

With traypaks, you have a full spectum canvas that you can create. It's continuously printed (that's our PIPS) with whatever inks and paper you specify, and you have an incredible amount of printing effects that you can do, and places you can stick things. The dollar investment will make the difference in sales.
